The Stani Gallery celebrates its first year of trading in Stony Stratford. We opened for business on the high street only a year ago this week and have grown from strength to strength ever since. From an initial portfolio of original art work from 20 local artists it now offers unique distinctive art from over 60, with the vast majority coming from the nearby counties of Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire.
As Susi Whittaker , Owner and Artist in Residence, says “ I have been extremely pleased with the help and advice I have received from fellow businesses and the encouragement and support shown by the residents of Stony Stratford and the surrounding villages. It is very satisfying to hear customers express delight when they see the wide variety of affordable art we offer, as it is far more than just paintings and includes ceramics, photography, jewellery, sculpture, glass, iron, wood and pottery as well. When they also say that they are pleased that we are still here and pop in just to see what’s new or the latest painting I am working on, then I know there is genuine interest in art in Stony. “
The Stani Gallery actually consists of three separate galleries and holds themed, individual and seasonal Exhibitions on a bimonthly basis. The original Art is changed frequently to suit the particular theme each time and throughout every exhibition, the art will also change frequently as new pieces and Artists are introduced to the gallery. The current exhibition is entitled Blooming Lovely! and has included work to suit art & history during Stony AHA! while in June, there will be paintings to suit Stony Live!, Classic Car and Stony in Bloom.
As Susi commented, “there is never a dull moment in the gallery as there is always something going on in Stony. Fortunately, our artists have the creativity, passion and professionalism to be able to cope with constant change !”
