I trained as a teacher of art and design although I have been producing ceramics since the age of 13. After an initial spell of teaching I set up my first studio producing domestic ware before going on to lecture in further education. I was Head of School of Art and Design at colleges in Milton Keynes and Rugby and took early retirement in 2006 in order to return to potting full time. I am a published author of 3 pottery titles. My individual pieces sells through galleries and selected craft and design fairs.
Recent Major Exhibitions: UCMK Gallery, Milton Keynes; Wirksworth Arts Festival, Derbyshire; The Lewis Gallery, Rugby; Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery; Christmas Exhibition, Rugby; Selected Design Fair, Loughborough Town Hall
I am a thrower at heart and so with few exceptions my work begins life on the wheel. Patterns in nature and organic forms are recurrent themes in my work along with basic elements of shape, balance and proportion. My recent pieces involve crystalline glazes, often saggar fired in a reduction atmosphere.
